United Football League The Real Deal

United Football League The Real Deal

There was an article awhile back asking the question: Is the UFL going to fail like every other start-up football league? Well now we can answer that question, and I think (and hope) the answer is no.

Although the first game didn’t draw much of an enormous crowd, (about 15,000 tickets sold, but some say around 1/3 actually came) anyone who has watched any of the games will tell you its great football to watch. You could almost think of it as 4 huge Division 1 NCAA football programs, just the players get paid. I never really got into arena football, mainly because I didn’t understand the rules and thought the fields were too small. In the UFL, everything rules wise is pretty much the same as the NFL – and the venues they play at are just as big.

Another question alot of people were asking was if there was going to be a good amount of star players. There is! Most of the players are ex-NFL players and some players (like Dexter Jackson) even have a Superbowl ring or two. Again, its great football to watch.

There are still only 4 teams, and hopefully they add more within the next few years. I’m really pulling for the UFL, as the only thing I think they’ve done wrong so far is with the team jersey’s and logos. The jersey’s are pretty interesting…..mainly due to overly bright flashy color schemes. Other than that, all they need is enough money to last for a few more years to gain popularity, or get bought by the NFL as minor league football. The games are on Versus and HDNET, but you can watch all the games online free at ufl-football.com.
