100,000 DROIDS Sold in First Weekend

Motorola is finally back — reporting 100,000 DROIDS sold in the launch weekend. Although this is only about 1/10th of what the iPhone 3GS sold in its first week, this is still double that of the Palm Pre that was the previous supposed “iPhone Killer” that didn’t live up to its expectations. I’m betting Verizon is pretty pleased as well, as the DROID may have brought some ex-iPhoners over who didn’t like that spotty AT&T 3G coverage. If only all the cellular providers would just merge into one huge company and everyone could have every phone…!
Motorola’s stock even went up after the launch of the DROID, and plans to sell over 1 million Android powered phones by Q4. Seems like the DROID really is worth something, and might be the next best phone behind the iPhone.
The DROID is getting nothing but great reviews but still has a few downfalls. Most are saying that the keyboard is to thin — personally I think that would be a good thing.
